Changing my pharmacy

You can change the nominated pharmacy your prescription goes to via the NHS app or letting reception know before you order your next prescription.

Prescription sent to one pharmacy, but patient wants to collect medication from another pharmacy

Patients who had their prescription sent to one pharamcy, but would like to collect it from another, need to contact the pharmacy to which the prescription was sent to in order to transfer the prescription to another pharmacy.

Patients need to ask the pharmacy team to ‘release the prescription to the spine’. Once this is done, any pharmacy will be able to download the prescription from the NHS spine. Once released, an electronic prescription is available almost immediately.

Patients can walk into the pharmacy of their choice and ask the pharmacy team to download the prescription from the NHS spine. Patients may need to provide some personal information (eg name, date of birth, NHS number) so that the pharmacy team can track the prescription.
